Project Fresh is finished and you LFC volunteers were fabulous!

178 children and filled
60 shifts
420 books of coupons were distributed. Each book is worth $20. That makes a total value of $8,400.

This is a project that LOVE for Children has helped get started that has been well received by patrons and volunteers alike. We always welcome new volunteers as we usually need a minimum of eight people for the 12:00-3:30 shift and four people for the 3:30-6:15 shift. The pantry is held at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church - Emmanuel Center - on 9th Street and Wadsworth and is both ecumenically and agency supported.
Volunteers are needed to help on-site. Please call Pat if you can help. Unless otherwise indicated, we need 7-8 volunteers on each shift - but have been especially short staffed during the second shift.

* Must be able to lift and push bins and carts.
The pantry provides (per family as needed and available):
10-15 diapers; 6 items of clothing; 2 books; 1 toy; 2 pr socks; 1 pair shoes; 1 bottle of shampoo, lotion or pkg of wipes (alternating Tuesdays); 1 outerwear; 2 bibs; 1 bedding item; 1 can formula; 6 jars baby food
With a coupon earned through various programs, a family can obtain more of the above or a bigger equipment item.

WANTED:
Head Start and Ready-Four classroom volunteers
  • Need caring individuals who enjoy preschool-age children & working in a classroom setting.
  • Once a week for consistency preferred, but not necessary.
  • Various locations, days, and times.
